HHSRS Advanced Practitioners
This course looks in more depth at a number of the more common and more complex hazards. There is a focus on best professional practice in investigating and assessing such hazards and remedial works that are appropriate. Additional information on the health impacts of the hazards is brought out. Throughout, relevant Residential Property Tribunal decisions are highlighted and their impact on practice considered.
The course generally covers the following hazards but we can tailor the course to look at any hazard of particular concern to your authority:
- Damp & mould growth
- Excess cold
- Carbon monoxide and combustion products
- Entry by intruders
- Falling on stairs etc
- Electrical hazard
- Flames, hot surfaces, etc
- Collision and entrapment
There is a particular emphasis on damp & mould growth and excess cold and the morning session is given over to these hazards. The session includes a detailed look at the main causes of damp and how to differentiate between rising and penetrating damp and condensation. A range of surveying instruments including a carbide tester, electrical moisture meter, salt testing kit etc are brought along and their use demonstrated.
